Setting Up a New Desk Phone

Lightspeed Voice uses automatic provisioning, which means most phones configure themselves when connected to your network — no manual programming required.

  1. Connect the phone to your network using an ethernet cable
  2. Plug in the power adapter or use PoE (Power over Ethernet) if your switch supports it
  3. Wait 2–3 minutes for the phone to boot and provision
  4. The phone will display the user's extension when ready

If the phone doesn't provision automatically within 5 minutes, contact support for manual provisioning assistance.

Headsets and Accessories

All supported desk phones are compatible with standard 3.5mm and RJ9 headsets. Bluetooth headset support varies by model — check your phone's spec sheet for Bluetooth compatibility. USB headsets work with the Orbit desktop app on Windows and Mac.

Troubleshooting

Phone shows "No Service" or won't register: Check that the phone is connected to the correct network VLAN and that UDP ports 5060–5061 are open on your firewall. See the Technical Requirements guide for full network settings.

Poor audio quality on desk phone: Enable QoS on your router and prioritize VoIP traffic. Consumer-grade routers without QoS are a common cause of audio issues.

Phone provisioned but showing wrong extension: Contact support to verify the MAC address assignment in your account portal.
