Overview

Roles and Permissions control which features each user on your account can access. This is managed by administrators under the Admin Essentials section of the Lightspeed Voice Dashboard.

What Roles Control

Permissions determine access to features such as:

  • Voicemail visibility
  • Listen (silent call monitoring)
  • Whisper (coaching a user during a live call without the caller hearing)
  • Call Transcription controls — including whether a user can turn transcription on or off during their own calls

Managing Call Transcription Permissions

To control whether a user can toggle call transcription themselves, go to Management → Account Settings → Roles & Permissions, choose the relevant role, click Edit, and scroll to Phones → Call Transcriptions. Click Save when finished. Users with Can Change Own Settings enabled are able to toggle transcription on and off during their own calls.
