Grandstream GRP2624 Tutorial

Set up and use the core call features of the Grandstream GRP 2624 desk phone

Overview

This tutorial covers everything you need to know to start using your Grandstream GRP 2624 desk phone — from setup and connection, to voicemail and advanced call features.

Step-by-Step

Setting Up Your Phone

Plug the coiled handset cord into the port labeled with a handset icon — not the nearby headset port. Connect an Ethernet cable from the port labeled LAN on the back of the phone to your network wall jack or switch. If your network supports Power over Ethernet, the phone powers on automatically; otherwise, use the included power adapter only. Once connected, the phone boots up and automatically registers with the Lightspeed Voice system.

Making and Receiving Calls

Lift the handset, press the speakerphone button, or use a connected headset, then dial once you hear a dial tone. You can also press a line key first, then dial — a solid green line key is ready, a flashing one is in use. Answer by picking up the handset, pressing the answer softkey, tapping the speakerphone button, or using your headset.

Softkeys and Navigation

Softkeys below the screen change based on context. The Features softkey lets you enable or disable Do Not Disturb (DND). Use the navigation wheel to move through menus and press the center button to select.

BLF Buttons

Programmable buttons to the left of the display can be set up as BLF keys, showing whether coworkers are on a call (red) or available (green). Press a BLF button to call that person directly or pick up their ringing line.

Parking and Retrieving Calls

While on a call, press the Park button. The system announces where the call has been parked (commonly 9001 or 9002 on Lightspeed Voice). Retrieve it by pressing the corresponding BLF key on any phone, or dialing the parking spot number directly.

Voicemail Access

Press the envelope icon to access your personal voicemail. First-time setup includes recording your name, a personal greeting, and creating a password — do not use your extension number as the password. To access a different mailbox, dial *98, then the mailbox number and password.

Hold, Transfer, and Conference

Press Hold to place a call on hold. For Transfer, press Transfer, dial the extension or number, then hang up for a blind transfer or wait for the answer and press Transfer again for an attended transfer. For Conference, press Conference, dial the second number, and press Conference again once they answer.

Wired and Wireless Headsets

Connect a wired headset using the RJ9 jack and press the headset button to use it. Wireless headsets typically connect through the EHS or USB port depending on the model.

Mute and Volume

Press Mute during a call so the other party can't hear you; press again to unmute. Volume buttons adjust ringer volume when idle or call volume during an active call.

Phonebook and Call History

Press the center navigation button from the home screen, highlight Contacts, then select Local Phonebook to browse or add contacts. Press the History softkey to view recent calls.
