Chat vs. Messenger
The Lightspeed Voice Dashboard includes two separate communication tools that are easy to confuse:
- Chat — internal team communication only. Access it from the two-people icon in the top navigation bar.
- Messenger — customer text messaging. Access it from the left menu.
Using Messenger
Top Tools
- Search Prospects — quickly find existing conversations by name or number
- Filter menu — view All Messages, Unread Only, or Read Only, and mark messages as read
- New Message — start a conversation with a previous contact or a brand-new number
- Add Contact — save a new number directly into your Phonebook
Conversation Window Controls
- Notifications toggle — turn message notifications on or off
- Phone icon — call the contact you're messaging immediately
- Person icon — open that contact's full details in the Phonebook
Admin View
Admins can view any user's messages using the Select User dropdown in the upper right.
Multiple Texting Numbers
If your office has more than one texting number, use the From: dropdown in the lower left of the message box to choose which number a text is sent from.
Templates and Shortcodes
Click the two-arrows icon to expand the messaging window, where you can select a template or insert shortcodes into your message.
