Phone Configuration

Set up desk phones and mobile calling

Supported Phones

Lightspeed Voice supports several types of devices depending on how you prefer to make and receive calls.

Supported hardware includes:

  • Grandstream desk phones
  • Yealink desk phones
  • Polycom desk phones

In addition to physical desk phones, users can also place and receive calls using the Orbit desktop and mobile apps, which function as softphones.

Desk Phone Setup

Most Lightspeed Voice desk phones are automatically provisioned when connected to your network.

1. Connect the Phone

Plug the phone into your network using an Ethernet cable and connect the power supply (or PoE if your network supports it).

2. Allow the Phone to Register

Once connected, the phone will automatically contact the Lightspeed Voice provisioning server and download its configuration.

This process usually takes 1–5 minutes.

3. Confirm Registration

When provisioning is complete:

  • Your extension number will appear on the phone display
  • The phone will show a registered or ready status
  • You should be able to place and receive calls

If the phone does not register after several minutes, contact Lightspeed Voice Support for assistance.

Orbit Desktop App (Softphone)

The Orbit Desktop App allows you to make and receive calls directly from your computer without a physical phone.

Setup Steps

  1. Download the Orbit Desktop App
  2. Install the application on your computer
  3. Sign in using your Lightspeed Voice credentials
  4. Select your microphone and speaker devices

Once signed in, Orbit functions as a full softphone and includes features such as call controls, voicemail access, and CRM integrations.

Orbit Mobile App

The LS Orbit mobile app allows you to use your business phone system from your smartphone.

Setup Steps

  1. Download LS Orbit from the Apple App Store or Google Play
  2. Open the app and sign in with your Lightspeed Voice credentials
  3. Allow microphone and notification permissions when prompted

After logging in, you will be able to:

  • Make and receive business calls
  • Access voicemail
  • View call history
  • Use your business extension from anywhere

Troubleshooting

If your phone or app does not register properly:

  • Verify your internet connection is active
  • Confirm your login credentials are correct
  • Restart the phone or application
  • Ensure your network allows outbound SIP traffic

If problems continue, contact Lightspeed Voice Support for help with device registration.
